The Null Continuum is the ninth and final faction of the Chromatic Frontier expansion, and the only colorless faction in Twilight Imperium. Ancient beyond reckoning, they are not a civilization that chose to reject color — they are what remains when color is stripped away entirely. Drifting through the galaxy as echoes of a pre-spectral era, the Null Continuum leave silence in their wake, harvesting the neutral remnants of forgotten conflicts and slipping through the spaces between stars that other factions cannot perceive.
The Null Continuum uses standard unit types. Their unique units are the Flagship and Mech detailed below.
| Home System | Nullspace |
| Planets | None. The Nullspace system contains no planets — only a pair of wormholes opening onto destinations that have never been consistently mapped, and a silence that long-range instruments register as the absence of something that should be there. |
| Population | Unknown |
| Government | Continuity There is no leadership, no succession — only the unbroken persistence of ancient patterns no individual fully understands. |
| Disposition | Vestigial What remains of them is not a civilization so much as the memory of one, still moving through habit and instinct across the void. |
| Tendency | Unknown If they have goals, they have not shared them. If they have desires, they predate the language needed to express them. |
No one knows what the Null Continuum was before it became what it is. The oldest records in the Lazax archive — themselves ancient beyond the reckoning of most living civilizations — contain references to something moving through the spaces between systems, something that predated the color-spectrum factions and seemed indifferent to their emergence. Whether the Null Continuum was once a civilization that suffered some catastrophic unmaking, or whether it has always existed in this state, is a question that has occupied xenoarchaeologists for generations without resolution. The Nullspace they call home is not a world. It is an absence — a system defined entirely by what it lacks.
They do not communicate in any conventional sense. They do not issue demands, form alliances, or attend councils. They arrive, they move through, and they leave — and where they have passed, neutral forces inexplicably fall into step behind them, drawn by something that no instrument has yet been able to measure. Their leaders, if they can be called that, carry titles that suggest memory rather than authority: the Unrefracted, the Fracture-Scarred, the Null Absolute. They speak rarely, and when they do, it is in terms so long in scope that most listeners cannot determine whether they are being threatened, warned, or simply observed. The galaxy has learned, slowly, not to assume the difference matters.
