The Null Continuum is the ninth and final faction of the Chromatic Frontier expansion, and the only colorless faction in Twilight Imperium. Ancient beyond reckoning, they are not a civilization that chose to reject color — they are what remains when color is stripped away entirely. Drifting through the galaxy as echoes of a pre-spectral era, the Null Continuum leave silence in their wake, harvesting the neutral remnants of forgotten conflicts and slipping through the spaces between stars that other factions cannot perceive.

Note — The Fracture: The Null Continuum is designed for use with the Thunder's Edge expansion. Their abilities interact extensively with ingress tokens and The Fracture. While they can be played without Thunder's Edge, several abilities will have reduced or no effect without The Fracture in play.

1 Faction Abilities

Continuum Reserves
Whenever neutral units would be placed on the game board by a game effect, place them from your reinforcements instead.
Null Requisition
After you move your units into a system containing neutral units, you gain control of those units.
Devoid Pilgrimage
For each of your ships that would move out of or through an egress system, roll 1 die immediately before it exits that egress system; on a result of 1–3, that ship is removed from the board.

2 Faction Promissory Note

Threshold Transit
ACTION: Move 1 ingress token from a system containing the Null Continuum's units to a system containing your units, then return this card to the Null Continuum player.

3 Faction Technologies

Spectral Drift
Prerequisites: ●●
You treat all systems that contain an ingress token as adjacent to each other.
Homecoming Abundance
Prerequisites: ●●●
Your ships do not roll for Devoid Pilgrimage.

4 Faction-Specific Units

The Null Continuum uses standard unit types. Their unique units are the Flagship and Mech detailed below.

5 Breakthrough

Ethereal Coalescence
Synergy: Biotic (Green) / Warfare (Red) / Cybernetic (Yellow)

This breakthrough causes The Fracture to enter play without a roll, if it is not already in play.

You treat all systems that contain alpha, beta, or gamma wormholes as adjacent to all systems that contain an ingress token.

7 Flagship

Liminal Transcendence
COST: 8
COMBAT: 6(×3)
MOVE: 1
CAPACITY: 6
After you move this flagship out of or through a system containing an ingress token, you may move the ingress token with it.
SUSTAIN DAMAGE

8 Mech

Continuum Walker
COST: 2
COMBAT: 6
During the "Commit Ground Forces" step, you may commit this unit from a planet in the active system or from a planet in an adjacent system that does not contain one of your command tokens.
SUSTAIN DAMAGE

9 Leaders

The Unrefracted Thessovane
AGENT
The Unrefracted Thessovane, Bringer of Matter from Emptiness
When a player would spend resources or influence, you may exhaust this card as if it were a planet card; that player may spend it as if its resource and influence values were equal to 2.
Fracture-Scarred Ombrathivane
COMMANDER
Fracture-Scarred Ombrathivane, Who Forgot the Color of Home
Unlock: Have units in The Fracture.
When you exhaust planets for resources or influence, increase the value by 1.
The Null Absolute Veranthovex
HERO
The Null Absolute Veranthovex, Ender of All Spectrums
Unlock: Have 3 scored objectives.
ACTION: Purge this card to remove all ingress tokens from the board, then place all 6 ingress tokens in any systems.

10 Lore

Home System Nullspace
Planets None. The Nullspace system contains no planets — only a pair of wormholes opening onto destinations that have never been consistently mapped, and a silence that long-range instruments register as the absence of something that should be there.
Population Unknown
Government Continuity
There is no leadership, no succession — only the unbroken persistence of ancient patterns no individual fully understands.
Disposition Vestigial
What remains of them is not a civilization so much as the memory of one, still moving through habit and instinct across the void.
Tendency Unknown
If they have goals, they have not shared them. If they have desires, they predate the language needed to express them.
What the Galaxy Intruded Upon

No one knows what the Null Continuum was before it became what it is. The oldest records in the Lazax archive — themselves ancient beyond the reckoning of most living civilizations — contain references to something moving through the spaces between systems, something that predated the color-spectrum factions and seemed indifferent to their emergence. Whether the Null Continuum was once a civilization that suffered some catastrophic unmaking, or whether it has always existed in this state, is a question that has occupied xenoarchaeologists for generations without resolution. The Nullspace they call home is not a world. It is an absence — a system defined entirely by what it lacks.

They do not communicate in any conventional sense. They do not issue demands, form alliances, or attend councils. They arrive, they move through, and they leave — and where they have passed, neutral forces inexplicably fall into step behind them, drawn by something that no instrument has yet been able to measure. Their leaders, if they can be called that, carry titles that suggest memory rather than authority: the Unrefracted, the Fracture-Scarred, the Null Absolute. They speak rarely, and when they do, it is in terms so long in scope that most listeners cannot determine whether they are being threatened, warned, or simply observed. The galaxy has learned, slowly, not to assume the difference matters.
